Why I'm Back

Writing is leaving parts of yourself for others to discover.

I’ve been considering starting a Substack & sharing my life online again for some time. That’s why my first post, “6 Reasons Why You Should Go For It” was really just a note-to-self.

Whenever I get caught in my head, wondering what other people might think about something I feel called to do, I love to go back to this Jemima Kirke quote:

Honestly, no one is paying attention, and no one cares as deeply about our lives as we might imagine (and perhaps hope) they do.

Without a doubt, the biggest reward I gained from creating a blog in 2011 and updating it multiple times a week for 9+ years was the unexpected connections. I recently shared on my Instagram story that my new Substack was live. Having people respond to it to tell me they were still following along this late in the game was quite surprising (and personally very meaningful).

But I think my acquaintance (and another OG blogger) Meg Biram nailed it in an email she sent me today-

“It's hard not to produce content when you are hard-wired to do so.”

I plan to write about all the things I always have - the great loves of my life:

- interior design

-travel

-self-improvement

-wellness

And, also share a healthy dose of my personal life. I’ve got lots to update you on and we have lots of ground to cover. A small sampling would be…

-Details of the house I purchased in 2021 and fixed up in my hometown of Oklahoma City

-How I acquired a gay Goldendoodle named Franklin, and how I’m giving him his best life
